Why visit
Uganda's most remote park, in the semi-arid valleys of Karamoja between South Sudan and Kenya, about 700 km from Kampala. Gazetted in 1962, it has over 77 mammal species and 476 bird species, including ostriches found nowhere else in Uganda.
When to visit
UWA describes one light rainy season from April to September. It says the Kidepo and Narus rivers dry up in the dry season, so wildlife gathers around the remaining Narus Valley pools. October to March is inferred as the drier period from UWA's stated rainy-season dates.
